I have a brick with what appears to be a "2" or backward "s" on it. Located in MA. Can anyone give me information on the manufacturer, age etc.?
... can't tell much about your "2" brick w/o seeing it or having a better description of it. It may be a fire brick, in which case it could have crossed the lines of several states, and have a non-specific pedigree.
I recently found some bricks with the "2" or backwards s by a abandoned coal mine which was in operation from about 1909 to the early 30's in deep south texas.
