jack donohue comments: Found among other brick rubble on the east bank of the Hudson, Lumber City, a jumbo brick. It was just south of Poughkeepsie. Doesn't lok like a native Hudson Vally brick. Any clue?
Hello Jack, You're right. The LUMBER CITY is a fire brick "model name" produced by a (succession of company names) George S. Good, Crescent Refractories and North American Refractories having locations in Lumber City, Clearfield and Curwensville, PA. Years the tradename was in use, includes 1917-1958.
