Wilson & Eaton

Last July I posted a question about Wilson & Eaton bricks made in Amenia,NY. Recently I contacted an old friend in the area and was told Wilson & Eaton made bricks from 1880 to 1930. There were two clay pits on the property divided by an earthern causeway, upon which was a narrow gauge track for ore cars to carry the clay. They struck water in 1930 and the pits quickly flooded ending the brick making operation.I wanted to pass this info along. Thank you, Ed Mistler

  1. I recall the old clay pits in Amenia. I went to elementary school in Amenia and the pits were behind the school.
There were not a lot of brick buildings in the area. I wonder if most bricks were shipped elsewhere on the railroad.

    Thanks
