Found some bricks marked Western Was told they were 100 yrs old from a building in L.A. area Can you tell me of their backround and value?
I assume you mean "common" bricks - the red ones about 8 X 4 X 2" in size. WESTERN bricks turn up all the time around Los Angeles! The firm had a mine and yard in Santa Monica, CA, I believe and later another in Long Beach. Though the company ceased operations years ago, pallets of WESTERN's, from demolition jobs, still turn up at local brickyards. There was also a "Western" fire brick (white or light tan in color) that was made in northern California by a different company.
