What Are Old Bricks Worth?

WEBMASTER NOTE:

We have received several inquiries regarding old bricks for sale
(see below).

Most brick collectors just trade for bricks. The best way to find out what an old brick is "worth" would be to try places like EBay and maybe Craig's List. Set a price and see if there are any takers. I have seen some old brick (ie W BARNSTABLE BRICK CO) for sale in antique stores on Cape Cod for around $20.

Here are the some of the inquiries:

My husband and I are moving from our 100+ year old home in Niskayuna, NY. We decided to clear out along the detached garage, and discovered 735 old bricks. Most are BLEAU, with a few SSBCO. We stacked them all and would love to sell them to someone who would appreciate them, but aren't sure of the best place to advertise them. Any ideas? Thanks!

My father in law was stationed in Germany during Desert Storm and brought back a brick with the swastika symbol on it. We were wondering if it would be worth anything? Thanks in advance. Rachel

We have some bricks labeled W. Barnstable Brick Co., BBCo, and some called ALAMO. A friend said the W. Barnstable bricks may be collector items. Do you have knowledge of this? Thanks.

From my basic understanding. The brick market is mostly entertained by collectors willing to share or exchange bricks.

The value of the bricks is more personal to the discoverer. This might be a good time to save some of those bricks and start your own collection by joining this and many other communities. If you do not have a collector's website to go to.

Sure, people may want to buy your bricks but you will need to leave it open to the market. Perhaps E-bay will give you an idea of the value when you place it there and see how the bids go.

    Another place is Craig's List

Before removing a building or road, you might contact a historic preservation society that may want to document or rebuild the structure. This might bring value to you as you can enjoy the structure or knowledge of the complete value of the structure in a historic sense rather than at a brick at a time.

I am starting my brick collection and copying historic information of the manufacturer and owners. The brick in a box along with its historic value makes a good conversation piece and brings more meaning to our culture.

The brick value $1, the historic value "priceless".

    Enjoy your discovery

  5. I have approximately 70 "Whiteselle Red Cherry Corsica" Bricks. Most are unchipped, with perfect stamps. All of them still have some cement on. I need them gone. Any suggestions how, where to put them to best use? I would like to have some renumeration for them if possible. I did note that a single identical brick in bad condition was selling on eBay for $36 plus shipping. (HA!) Id appreciate any reference. :)

    My appreciation for any references.

  12. I was researching the yellow/cream colored bricks labeled Mack manufa. G co inside of a diamond outline that are very thick and heavy with a recessed mortar channel on three of the sides. I have well over 1000 of them all relatively intact and clean. Can you tell me if they are desirable, collectible or valuable !
I also have an equal amount of these very large cobblestone sized red, possibly hand made with what appears to be a glaze on top.and bottom. One of them somewhere in the stack there is one labeled
“Clydesdale”, they are magnificent looking pavers. Supposedly they came from some mansion in Southport Ct. well over 100+ years old !
Any info. on either brick I described would be appreciated ! Thank you much!
