[SSBCO] and [BLEAU]

My husband and I are moving from our 100+ year old home in Niskayuna, NY. We decided to clear out along the detached garage, and discovered 735 old bricks. Most are BLEAU, with a few SSBCO. We stacked them all and would love to sell them to someone who would appreciate them, but aren't sure of the best place to advertise them. Any ideas? Thanks!

  1. Hi Michelle,

This is a tough question. Are there any other brands in the "collection" than the SSBCOs and BLEAUs? and are the brick used or new?.

Perhaps posting a flyer relative to the bricks' availability at a local "Community Bulletin Board", as at a supermarket, may be helpful.

  7. Bleau was my grandmother's name. She was one of 8 children born to Theophile. Her name was Beatrice. Her siblings were Theophile, Ephraim, Midor David(likely related to you), Elizabeth, Emma, Alphonse and Helen. My Uncle Midor lived in New York, so I didn't see his family often, but there were many children. The other siblings I saw pretty often. My mother is likely in "Loren's" generation. She is 83. I grew up in Western Mass. Let me know if you can put the connection together.

  10. My great great grandfather's name was Joseph Bleau. He was born in Canada, lived in Coxsackie NY where his daughter Anna was born, but they moved when she was still an infant to Amsterdam NY where he worked as a brick maker. Could he be related to the owners of the Bleau Brick factory?
