D'HANIS

I found a D'HANIS brick that has the "N" printed backwards and under the name is a plus sign inside a circle that has what looks like feet on the circle. I have other D'HANIS bricks but this the only one with the peculiar mark on it. What is the mark for?

  1. Hi James,

That symbol you are referring to is ... I say, a rope going thru a pulley. It was the symbol of the Common Brick Manufacturers Association. The CBMA was a trade organization whose membership included brick manufacturers from all over the country. I don't mean to imply ALL brick manufacturers were members. One , we know, and for reasons unknown, chisled the symbol out of his molds, then used the molds to make more brick.. - Fred Rieck
